Meet the Founders
MyEducate was founded by three specialists in their field who have combined skills and experience to create your one stop education platform
Edward Smith
Driven by a deep belief in the power of personalised, holistic education, Edward founded MyEducate with a mission to provide students with expert support at every stage of their learning journey.
With over a decade of experience in both education and business, Edward brings a hands-on, thoughtful approach to ensuring every learner receives tailored, high-quality teaching that meets their individual needs.
As a father to a young boy, Edward is especially passionate about creating educational experiences that go beyond the classroom—championing flexible learning pathways, real-world readiness, and a deep love of learning.
Outside of work, Edward is a keen runner and an avid collector of original classical literature. When not immersed in books, he enjoys long walks in the countryside with his dog, soaking up nature and fresh air.
Russell Elliston
With a strong belief in the transformative power of education, Russell brings both personal experience and professional insight to his role at MyEducate.
Having progressed through the education system to postgraduate level and completed a competitive graduate scheme, Russell understands the challenges students face—and is passionate about helping the next generation navigate their own path to success.
Now a technology manager at one of the UK’s largest retailers, Russell combines a strategic mindset with a deep commitment to mentorship and personal development. His goal is to support learners not just academically, but in building the confidence and clarity they need to achieve their educational and career ambitions.
Outside of work, Russell enjoys reading, football, and exploring the outdoors with his wife and their dog—always finding time to recharge, reflect, and stay grounded.
Gerrard O’Driscoll
Gerrard O’Driscoll brings a wealth of experience across finance, property, and charitable work-shaped by a deep-rooted belief in social responsibility and community support.
After studying Economics and Geography at London Guildhall University, Gerrard began his career on the LIFFE trading floor before moving into investment banking, trading fixed income and commodities.
Following personal loss, Gerrard transitioned from the City to property development and accountancy, eventually taking over his father’s practice while continuing to build a successful property investment business. His work is grounded in the values instilled by his parents—particularly a strong ethos of inclusivity and support for the vulnerable.
Gerrard has been a trustee and treasurer of a local Almshouse charity since his twenties, helping provide housing for those in need. He also serves as trustee and treasurer of the Colchester Emergency Night Shelter (CENS), a role that grew from a simple act of kindness into a lasting commitment to combat homelessness and help individuals transition into stable, long-term housing.
